How the Pipercross Viper works:

The technology Pipercross in the Viper was first seen on the Lotus 340R, but has now become readily available for most popular cars.

Air enters the engine using Velocity air force as the viper air intake supplied directs cold dense air into the inlet of the filter. The cold air then gets swirled through the unique Pipercross reverse-flow air filter contained within a carbon fibre heat shield. It then moves into a ram pipe which increases the air pressure before feeding it into the induction system.

The air entering the filter is kept cool by the carbon fibre heat shield which protects it from under bonnet heat. Cooler air is denser therefore introducing more oxygen into the combustion mixture which in turn gives increased power!!

The Pipercross reverse flow filter technology and 150mm ram pipe make use of the physical phenomenon of air which tends to move towards the surface, creating more air flow on the edge rather than in the centre of the inlet.

The Pipercross filter has a unique cone design and the filter inlet tunes' the moving air flow to increase its speed and therefore its pressure maximising the laminar cold air flow into the engine, again resulting in increased horsepower.
